Item Description

The Pingwu Mine is world-famous for its amazing crystals of minerals like Aquamarine but the Scheelites and Cassiterites from are incredibly fine quality as well. This wonderful cabinet sized specimen is a fantastic display piece featuring sharp, very well-formed, lustrous, translucent, fine orange colored pseudo-octahedral (tetragonal) crystals of Scheelite measuring up to 3.1 cm associated with starkly contrasting, jet-black, excellent cyclic twinned crystals of Cassiterite measuring up to 3.1 cm sitting on a matrix of bladed, silvery-beige colored Muscovite mica. I can see one tiny nick on the largest Scheelite crystal, but overall the piece is in fantastic condition. It's highly displayable, very aesthetic, and the balance of colors and crystal forms make it a truly fine quality and attention-grabbing specimen of this well-known material. These specimens are rather difficult to find on the market today. The piece comes with a label from Herb Obodda where it previously valued at $6,800.
