Scheelite & Quartz (new find)

Item Description

Rich burnt-orange, translucent, moderately lustrous scheelite crystals are aesthetically nestled in the mounded, 3-dimensional, quartz point matrix on this showy combination small cabinet from a new find at Pari, Pakistan. The large pseudo-octahedral, tetragonal crystal is 1.8 cm tall and has part of a secondary scheelite beneath it. The lighter colored terminations add color and character to the crystals. Back lighting really highlights the rich orange color. The glassy quartz points reach 1.8 cm. A secondary scheelite has a lightly bruised tip and periphery wear is noted to some quartz crystals. These are certainly modest detractions to this sculptural combination from the new find. Pari scheelites are easily Pakistan's finest examples of the species. Ghostly white SW UV scheelite fluorescence. You never see these on quartz matrix and that contrast is what makes the piece!
