Item Description

A classic and aesthetic, remarkably fine old-time scheelite combination from the famous Tae Hwa Mine of Korea. A 2.9 cm, sharp, lustrous, moderately translucent, whitish-brown scheelite crystal is jauntily set on the sculptural miniature matrix of glassy quartz points, to 3.5 cm, and well-placed clusters of off-white muscovite blades. The multiple terminations on the scheelite really add pizzazz to the piece. The scheelite is complete all-around and nearly pristine, with only a small, hard-to-see bruise on one side. The mine was active from 1902 until 1973 (MINDAT). These scheelites were long considered the world's finest, until surpassed by the recent Chinese finds. Ghostly white fluorescence. A very fine and highly desirable two-sided scheelite combination from this famous locality. It looks great great from either side and displays well without aid.
