Scheelite on Quartz (''floater'' specimen)

Scheelite specimens from the famed Yaogangxian Mine at not necessarily uncommon, but a piece like this is really special. This piece is a complete "floater", crystallized all around, with no visible damage or point of contact that I can find, featuring a rich coverage of excellent, very sharp, highly lustrous, pseudo-octahedral (bi-pyramidal tetrahedral) crystals of soft beige-brown colored crystals of Scheelite measuring up to 6 mm, associated with a scattering of compressed blades of Calcite sitting on a notably tabular milky white crystal of Quartz. The Scheelites show a fantastic blue fluorescence under SW UV light. A really choice example from one of the most prolific specimen producers for well over 20 years in China. Valued $2,500.
From the collection of Kurt Hefendehl (#378 C), a well-known German collector all over Europe with worldwide contacts to dealers and collectors. He started collecting seriously at the age of 14 and his great and varied worldwide collection reached over 6000 pieces. He was very active mineralogically until shortly before his passing in 2020 at the age of 82. Considering his collection had a large number of pieces, it still had an unusually high standard of quality from most worldwide localities. He particularly specialized in all classics as well as minerals of the Black Forest, where he spent much time collecting. His Black Forest and German subcollections went to his good friend Wolfgang Wendel.
