Item Description
The label accompanying this piece states that it is probably from Ehrenfriedersdorf and not Schneeberg as it was apparently sold. Kay bought the specimen from Al McGuinness in Tucson 1978. It features dozens of sharp, well-formed, pseudo-octahedral crsytals of Scheelite measuring up to 3 mm sitting on a thin plate or layer of Quartz. The Scheelites have a dark honey gold color when backlit, and they glow a beautiful yellow hue under SW UV light. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#8508). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Velt" November-December 2017).
