Item Description

A rare specimen of crystallized Scheelite with on matrix from a locality in Saxony called "Furstenberg" in Saxony according to the label. It possibly could be from Sadisdorf or the Sauberg Mine, but it's hard to know for sure. Sharp, lustrous, tetragonal crystals of gorlden-orange Scheelite measuring up to 1.1 cm are associated with Quartz on host rock matrix. Beautiful up close and the fluorescence is a wonderful blue-white hue under SW UV light. A cool old classic from Germany. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#8884). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). NOTE ADDED FROM A GERMAN CUSTOMER AFTER POSTING, WITH THANKS!: https://www.mineralienatlas.de/lexikon/index.php/Deutschland/Sachsen/Erzgebirgskreis/Schwarzenberger%20Kuppel/F%FCrstenberg
