Scheelite (fluorescent) (ex Tom Campbell Collection)

This locality is well known for its amazing crystals of minerals like Aquamarine and Cassiterite, but the Scheelites from Pingwu are the finest examples of the species extant! The best of these specimens are the largest Scheelites with the best fiery orange / red color ever seen for the species. This large thumbnail features a very sharp, highly lustrous, gemmy, beautiful orange color, pseudo-octahedral (bipyramdial tetrahedral) crystal of Scheelite measuring 2.5 cm with minor attached silver bladed Muscovite at the base. Good condition, but there is a little bit of a surface roughness in spots. Like most Scheelites, this piece shows a gorgeous blue fluorescence under UV lighting. Retail value would be around $700.
