Item Description

A translucent, glowing crystal of scheelite from the mountains of Sonora (no specific locale was attributed, but it is classic for the region). A textbook tetragonal crystal, it is complete-all-around. One edge is lightly bruised and the contacting at the base is noted. The crystal has a rich yellow-orange color that appears to be variable, but is due to internal cleavage, light refractions and the tapering of the crystal. This specimen stands as a rare and very fine example of the species from Mexico. Ex Ed Bancroft Collection and was at one time on exhibit with the second label. Bright blue-white fluorescence.
