Item Description

The famous Pingwu Mine in China is renowned for its impressive crystals of Aquamarine, Cassiterite and especially Scheelite, which is as good as it gets for the species. A good number of Scheelites from this mine are most commonly seen either as loose single crystals, and less commonly on Muscovite matrix. This showy and aesthetic small cabinet specimen features a notably lustrous, sharp, well-formed, fine quality, bright reddish-orange colored pseudo-octahedral crystal of Scheelite measuring 1.7 cm, associated with gemmy tabular crystals of colorless Beryl (Goshenite) sitting on Muscovite. I can't find any major damage, and the piece displays beautifully as you can see. If you collect worldwide Scheelites, minerals from China or specifically pieces from the Pingwu Mine, this is an excellent specimen of this class, and less commonly seen material. Like nearly all Scheelites, the crystals on this piece show a bright blue-white fluorescence under UV light. Valued $2,000.
