Item Description
This well-balanced small cab is from a small find on the "other side of the mountain" from the former main adits to the Ping Wu mines, on Mt Xuebaoding in the Panda Preserve of Sichuan Province. I first started hearing this news about a year ago and have seen now a small trickle of these unusual scheelites come out, but this is the best I have yet gotten ahold of. The crystals are distinctly distorted into fat triangular shapes more slim in one dimension, than equant and octohedral as we normally expect in scheelite. These crystals are to 2 cm in size, and are incredibly gemmy in the terminations. So glassy and gemmy, you could cut a gem from them, in fact! The quality is far and above beyond the normal median, and I find this a beautiful poiece not just for the quality of those crystals but the way they are displayed, flanked by the matrix. Valued $1500-2000
