Item Description
An outstanding, classic, old-time, complete-all-around specimen of sceptered calcite from Shullsburg, Wisconsin. The broad, colorless scalenohedron is abundantly overgrown with lustrous rhombohedral calcites in striking, parallel stair-stepped growth. The scalenohedron is capped by a transparent and lustrous, 5.5 x 4.7 x 4.1 cm, complex rhombohedral calcite crystal, which makes for a spectacular sceptered calcite specimen with a striking phantom. Nearly pristine, with only trivial edge wear to the rhomb and out of sight bruising on the back of the scalenohedren. Hard to get in this undamaged quality. Very fine material from this historic locale. Ex Clifford Krueger Collection and originally purchased in 1977 (for $30!) from Tom Palmer of Crystal Caverns Minerals in El Paso, Texas. Valued at $400-500. MUCH BETTER IN PERSON!
