Item Description
This stone is from a discovery circa 2010 in Tanzania. The two main colors for Scapolite are purple and yellow, and this stone has a soft silvery-purple color that can be seen with strong backlighting. I'll say that the stone looks black on the surface in reflected light, but I can get some color to come through with a torch. I will point out that the actual names of the species of "Scapolite" are Marialite and Meionite. This is a beautiful "Cat's Eye" "Oval Cabochon" cut gem that shows a slight "eye" that runs the length of the stone. You can see the "eye" in the video, and it is best seen with a strong penlight, and that's what was used to take the video. These stones are virtually impossible to find on the market, especially in a larger size like this.
