Scapolite on Calcite (classic locale)

Item Description

This well-known old phlogopite and fluorite mine, first worked in 1906, is famous for outstanding apatite crystals, many on pink calcite. Sharp scapolite crystals are far less common. A 4.5 cm, euhedral sharply terminated crystal with satiny gray to matte brown sections is aesthetically attached to the side of a sculptural pink calcite section. Undoubtedly old-time material from an East Coast collection, but no proof. with the torn label on the bottom. Classic and uncommon old combination material from the Yates Mine.
