Scapolite (GEM quality)

Item Description

This is a classic, 100% WATER CLEAR, gentle yellow color, striated, tabular prismatic crystal of Scapolite (Marialite-Meionite Series) from the Scapolite Locality in Tamil Nadu, India. The piece is in good shape, but the one side of the lower edge is contacted, so the piece is not damage-free. If you read the label that accompanies the piece, it was actually broken when the flat containing the specimen fell and hit the floor. As is often the case with any gemmy Scapolite crystal, the color is stronger when viewing the crystal down the "c" axis, as is the case with this piece. These crystals came from a find in 2013, and all but disappeared from the market, as virtually nothing has been seen since.
