Scapolite (GEM quality)

Item Description

Here we have a classic, 100% GEM QUALITY / WATER CLEAR, soft yellow color, striated prismatic crystal of Scapolite (Marialite-Meionite Series) from the Scapolite Locality in Tamil Nadu, India. While the crystal not damage free (it's contacted in a few spots), it's still doubly-terminated, as I can see tiny crystallized faces on each end under magnification. As is often the case with any gemmy Scapolite crystal, the color is stronger when viewing the crystal down the "c" axis. These crystals came from a find in 2013, and all but disappeared from the market, as virtually nothing has been seen since.
