Scapolite ex Campbell

This is a significantly sized, robust, golden yellow, gem Scapolite crystal from Tanzania. These beautiful crystals originate from a contact metamorphic occurrence in marble and are not plentiful in this quality. This particular crystal displays a unique, beautiful golden color and excellent crystal form that is so absent in the golden-colored Scapolites from Brazil or India. The rich yellow-amber color is consistent throughout the crystal and it is very gemmy in the top two-thirds with minor internal fracturing in the bottom portion. Rarely do gem Scapolites occur in this large size have the saturation, let alone good clarity. The luster of this Scapolite is off the charts and there are lightly developed striations on all of the prism faces and it has a good termination! This impressive gem crystal is hefty at 66.8 grams.
