Cat's Eye gems are a specific category of stone which actually benefit from tiny inclusions inside the stone to reflect light and create a thin "eye" to appear. This stone is from find of Scapolite from Tanzania from approximately 2006-2007. When it comes to gem quality Scapolite, you'll typically see yellow and purple gems on the market, and the purple stones are notably harder to find than the yellow variety! To be accurate, the names of the species of "Scapolite" are Marialite and Meionite. Nonetheless, this is a beautiful "Round Cabochon" cut gem with a deep purplish-brown color and a rather sharp "eye". The eye is best seen with a strong penlight, and that's what was used to photograph the gem. These stones are virtually impossible to find on the market, and this gem is valued at $307.00 retail.
