Scapolite

Scapolite is one of those stones that you rarely find in large cut gems. It is very very difficult to find clean gems that weigh over 5 carats. This stone is great because it's a superb, very nearly eye clean, very good size, "Brilliant Pear" cut gem. This Tanzanian material is fairly new to the market, but is almost impossible to find in gems this size recently. This is a very fine collector's stone and it looks better in person than it does in the photographs (more of a golden hue than a greenish-yellow). Good cutting, quality, size, color - an all-around great gem for a stone that is truly only found in a few world localities.
