Item Description

Sartorite is a rare lead-arsenic sulfosalt and the famed Lengenbach Quarry is the Type Locality. This is a classic combination from the University of Delaware Collection. The scuptural, sugary dolomite matrix hosts a pronounced vein on three sides of the piece. A wall in two areas of the vein is lined with lustrous, metallic, striated sartorite prisms to about 2 mm. Translucent honey-yellow sphalerite crystals and melted-look galena crystals are a fine fine compliment. Veins and coatings of tiny, sparkly pyrites are noted elsewhere. Probably older material. A showy and excellent combination example of the rare species and locale.
