Item Description
This material is a genuine species, not a variety like Sapphire. It is distinguised from Sapphire due to the fact that is is monoclinc, not hexagonal like Corundum, and it is a Silicate, not and Oxide. Its name is derived from its similarity to the color of Sapphire. Typically, Sapphirine is not gem quality, it is almost always opaque, and faceted gems are rare. This "Freeform" cut stone is very very slightly incdluded and has a grey-blue color which is typical for the material. This is one of the few Sapphirine gems that I have offered in the auctions, so don't miss out on this opportunity to snag a fantastic quality rare gem for your collection.
