Item Description

A rarely seen specimen from Naxos Island in the southeastern Aegean Sea of Greece. The island is only 166 square miles (430 square kilometers), but several mineral localities exist there. This piece is a polished specimen from the bauxite (technically metabauxite) rock formations on the island featuring patches of rich blue Sapphire associated with white Diaspore and minor black spots of Chloritoid. Very little of this material is available, and I think only small discoveries have been made in recent years. This particular piece was found in 2017. A cool esoteric Sapphire specimen from this little known island locality.
