Sapphire (unusual color)

Madagascar has produced some of the most impressive and colorful Sapphire gems in recent years. I have seen Sapphires of every color of the rainbow from this country, but this stone is certainly what I would call "unusual" in terms of its color. This gem has an almost bronze-orange hue, or a metallic native copper color to it, and it truly doesn't look quite like any other Sapphire we've had to offer in the auctions previously. I honestly can't even think of another gem or mineral to compare the color. Perhaps the most interesting aspect of the stone is the fact that when it's strongly lit, a vibrant red hue will appear in certain spots, but it's difficult to get it show up, and almost impossible to capture in a photo. The stone is virtually eye clean with a "Step Pear" cut. This stone would make a great addition to any suite of Sapphire gems, especially if you've been looking for that perfect color gem to fill a spot in your collection to show the great range of color for this beloved material. It's also the birthstone for the month of September, so if you or somebody you know has a birthday in that month, this would make an excellent gift.
