Sapphire (rich pink color)

Item Description

Although the word Sapphire comes from the Greek and/or Latin word for blue (sapheiros and saphirus respectively), they are found in all colors of the rainbow, except red (Ruby). This stone comes from Sri Lanka and features a vivid pink hue. This "Trillion Brilliant" cut gem is translucent, not truly gem quality, but the strength of the color is excellent. The color almost reminds of me fine quality cobalt-bearing Calcite from Morocco. This stone would make a great addition to any collection, or would be suited as a wonderful center stone for a fine piece of jewelry.
