Item Description
A beautiful blue Sapphire crystal from the lesser known Chilas locality in Pakistan showing textbook hexagonal form with sharp faces and decent luster The piece is doubly-terminated and is nearly a complete "floater", but there are two small spots on the back lower corner where I believe additional Sapphire crystals once grew. Our source for the material told us that these crystals are found in massive solid marble which is dissolved away to reveal these little treasure. I nice example of crystallized Corundum, and even though it's not transparent, the color and crystal form make up for it. A cool pickup for a fan of gem crystal minerals or thumbnails. Specimen weight is 26.49 carats.
