Item Description

A wonderful, classic natural (unheated / untreated) very light blue color (with a slight golden overtone in spots) Sapphire gem from Montana. The stone is notably clean, with only the very slightest of inclusions I can see with a loupe. The cut is a traditional "Round Brilliant". You don't see a lot of natural unheated Sapphires on the market from most localities, as the heating process almost always improves color and clarity, but unheated stones are always sought after and typically considered more valuable. This is not a small Sapphire by the standards of this classic U.S. Sapphire locality, as most of them are under 1/4 carat in weight. Although they have been mined for over a century, Montana Sapphires have become increasingly popular in the last few years. There has been a surge in the price and demand of gemstones from the United States recently, and things like Benitoite, Rhodochrosite (from Colorado), Red Beryl, Hiddenite, Oregon Sunstone, and Montana Sapphire seem to be on the rise across the board as few gems are available, and lots of people are buying them up.
