Sapphires are found in many world localities, and while most people are familiar with blue, pink and yellow stones, GREEN Sapphires are notably hard to find. This stone is a rarely seen green Sapphire from Madagascar, which is completely natural (unheated) in color. To find an untreated stone with this color and clarity is quite remarkable, especially with such an enticing color. The stone has a "round" shape, but the cut is what is called a "Fantasy" cut, where the underside/pavilion/culet area of the gem has actually been carved to create the beautiful geometric patterns you see when the stone is viewed through the table. This particular style of cutting is seldom seen in any colored stones on the market today. The gem was cut by Brett Kosnar of Kosnar Gem Co., who is a 4-time AGTA Spectrum Award winning gem cutter. The stone is remarkably clean for a Sapphire this, with only very slight inclusions. It would make a fantastic center stone for either a ring or a pendant. The retail price on this gem is $1,629.00.
