Item Description
When it comes to gemstones from Montana, most people probably think first of Sapphire. As a matter of fact, Montana has produced the best gem quality Sapphires from any state in the U.S. (or North American for that matter) over a sustained period of time. With that said, these stones are still not terribly common, and good gems are often hard to find. Here we have a beautiful light pinkish-mauve colored Sapphire with virtually eye-clean clarity and a "Round Brilliant" cut. The stone has been heated, which is a very common and accepted practice in the gem world to help improve color and clarity in the material. This stone would make a great addition to a Sapphire suite, or a suite of gems from the United States. A very attractive gem from this classic U.S. Sapphire locality. Sapphires are some of the most highly desirable gems in the world, and good stones from Montana are highly sought after among collectors, as there has been a surge in demand for gemstones from U.S. localities. I've seen these stones sell for $1,500 per carat and more at major gem shows.
