Sapphire Carving (Seahorse)

Gem carvings are beloved by collectors, but the are often carved from material that is found in larger pieces of rough, i.e., Quartz, Tourmaline, Beryl, etc. It's not common to find a gem carving of Sapphire, as the crystals / rough are typically on the smaller side. This piece is a beautiful "smoky" blue color, masterfully carved Seahorse with great detail. When backlit, you can see there is a light "silky" quality internally, and this "silk" is synonymous with Corundum around the world. You have to admire such a great work of art considering that somebody was attentive enough to put all the little details into a smaller carving such as this. This piece could be wire-wrapped into a lovely pendant, or left alone as a great addition to anybody's collection. A truly eye-catching and somewhat rare little Sapphire carving.
