Sapphire is one of those gems that comes in virtually every color of the rainbow. Sapphires are some of the most popular, durable, colorful and highly sought after gems on the planet. This stone has an interesting almost "metallic" steel-blue color. It reminds me more of a Spinel than a Sapphire, and the unusual "narrow rectangle" cut makes it all the more enticing, as Sapphire are rarely cut into this shape. The stone is virtually eye clean. A cool novelty stone from Sri Lanka.
