Item Description

Everybody is familiar with Sapphires, but it's not easy to find good matrix specimens of any Corundum variety from any locality around the world. This piece is a very nice matrix Sapphire specimen which was mined in Ganesh, Pakistan in 2012. This locality is one of the oldest and more renowned Sapphire/Ruby localities in the world. It has literally produced these specimens for decades. This miniature specimen features a solitary 1.5 cm crystal of Sapphire with sharp, lustrous, well formed hexagonal faces. The crystal is translucent and shows a pinkish-purple color and is aesthetically sitting atop Calcite / marble matrix. I haven't seen many specimens of this material on the market in recently, and we bought a small lot that we are happy to offer here in the auctions. I've seen a few Pakistani dealers with this material, and they are commanding very high prices on the market today, as are all fine matrix Sapphires specimens from all world localities.
