For the most part, good matrix specimens of Corundum are not easy to find from any world locality. Here we have an nice matrix Sapphire specimen that came out of Pakistan in late 2012. The locality at Ganesh is one of the oldest and more renown Sapphire/Ruby localities in the world, and has long produced some amazing specimens. The 1.3 cm Sapphire on this specimen is a decent quality, sharp, lustrous, translucent hexagaonl crystal exhibiting a pinkish-purple color sitting atop Calcite matrix. I haven't seen many specimens of this material on the market in recent years, so I was very happy to have this piece to offer. These specimens are not coming out nearly as frequently as they have in the past, and they are definitely commanding very high prices on the market today, as are all fine matrix Sapphires specimens from all world localities.
