Item Description
A superlative and dramatic 2.3 cm wide spray of lustrous, rust-red, santabarbaraite spearpoints is aesthetically set on the coated nodular ironstone matrix on this outstanding and rare specimen from this famous extinct locale. Orginally called Kertschenite, for the locality, the species was found to be rare Santabarbaraite, an amorphous replacement of vivianite in 2000. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 10854 and acquired from the Cisneros' at the MSSC Show in 1985. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record).
