Item Description
Here we have an unbelievably rare specimen of Sanrománite, a sodium calcium lead carbonate mineral, first found in an adit in the Santa Rose Mine which had been abandoned since the end of the 1800s. It was only approved as a new species in 2006. It was named in honor of the Chilean naturalist, Francisco J. San Román. Sanrománite, has only been found in THREE mines in the world, two of which are in Chile. This piece is a wonderful example featuring Sanrománite with Diaboleite according to the label from Mauricio and Rossana Dini. We've photographed the piece with a Canon MP-E 65 mm macro lens to better illustrate the quality.
Ex John Dagenais Collection #JD-835
