Item Description

Here we have a rarely seen rough and cut set of Sanidine, labeled as coming from "Eifel, Germany". While I've seen gemmy specimens of Sanidine from various localities in Germany, they aren't often clean enough to produce fine faceted stones. This set features a wonderful 3.70 carat "Pear" cut gem of Sanidine, measuring 14.80 mm x 9.08 mm, which is perfectly matched with a soft golden colored piece of "rough" Sanidine weighing 58.1 grams. The stone from this set is about as big as I've seen from Germany, and it's nearly "eye clean", so it's really top quality. Sanidine is typically found in opaque crystals, so gem quality material is rare, and honestly any gem quality Feldspar is rare worldwide, so when you find a set like this, it's a real treat and certainly worth picking up just for the stone itself! From the collection of Colin Manlove.
