Item Description

A striking and sculptural specimen of calcite scalenohedrons included with sand from a difunct South Dakota locale, Rattlesnake Butte (Devils Hill) near Interior. The crystals, up to 6.8 cm (doubly terminated), grew in the Miocene sand matrix. Your can even see the bedding planes in the sandstone! An artistic, 360-degree floater specimen, that is rarely pristine. It displays well without aid. Ex Robert Fender Collection. Old material from the 1960s or 70s and seldom seen today in this quality
