Item Description
A striking and sculptural, large specimen of calcite scalenohedrons included with sand from a difunct South Dakota locale, Rattlesnake Butte (Devils Hill) near Interior. The crystals, up to 7.2 cm, grew in the Miocene sand matrix. Your can even see the bedding planes in the sandstone! An artistic, 360-degree specimen, with only modest contacting and rubbing.
