Item Description

A very rare sepcimen of the calcium, sodium, copper phosphate Sampleite from Endeavour 26, NSW, Australia. This piece came labled to us as coming from a place called Northparkes, but I can't find any record of Sampleite occuring at this mine. Sampleite is reported from Endeavour 26, so that's how I'm labeling this piece, especially because it's identical to others I've seen from this locality. Sampleite was first described in 1942 for an occurrence in Chuquicamata, Chile and was named after MaTt Sample, a mine superintendent for the Chile Exploration Company. This piece features micaceous "rosette" of bright sky blue color Sampleite on matrix. Attention rare mineral collectors, pick this one up, as they are almost never seen on the market. This piece comes with a classic label from Josef Vajdak / Pequa Rare Minerals, which immediately increases the value. You can read Joe's biography here: http://www.minrec.org/labels.asp?colid=1371 Do not miss out on this one.
