Item Description

Sampleite is a rare hydrated, sodium, calcium, copper chloro phosphate and is the phosphate analague of lavendulan. It is found in common and very uncommon settings: the oxidized zones of copper deposits in arid climates; in caves derived from copper sulfides in cave walls and phosphorus from bat guano; miarolytic cavities in granite; and in pegmatites. This rare specimen is from cavities in granite. Pretty, lustrous, powder-blue, microcrystals richly and attractively cover the granite matrix on this excellent specimen from Lage Boga granite quarry of Australia and the Museum of Victoria. This is a very rich example of the species and locale. From a well-respected European rare species collector.
