Item Description

Safflorite is uncommon Co-arsenide. This very rich and showy mounded ore specimen consists of spherical aggregates of nubby, dark gray safflorite peppered with tiny, sparkly, arsenopyrite crystals. Much of the piece has a very light coating of pastel-green chlorite. An uncommon excellent two-sided ore specimen from this extinct mine, that operated intermittently from 1917 until the late 1980s (MINDAT). Safflorite specimens of this richness are very uncommon from this mine and chlorite is RARE from here. Choice combination material from the Art Soregaroli Collection.
