Item Description

A VERY hard to find specimen of the rare cobalt iron nickel arsenate Safflorite which has formed pseudomorphs after preexisting Silver that grew in a semi-lattice-like formation on matrix. This is the first specimen of this material that we've had to offer in the auctions, and comes from an uncommon for the species German locale - the Glasberg Quarry, Nieder-Beerbach, Odenwald, Hesse. A great piece for any fan of unusual pseudomorphs or old German classics. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#11741). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
