Rutile with Hematite included in Quartz (ex Rolando Gioia Collection)

Some of the most iconic Rutile / Hematite specimens in the world are those from Novo Horizonte. This piece is a cool example of the 2008 find featuring golden Rutile crystals sprouting out of natural silvery Hematite center which are included inside of gemmy prismatic Quartz crystals. These "stars" of Rutile and Hematite are iconic for the locality and beloved in the mineral collecting world. The piece is contacted around the base and edges, where it was removed from the pocket, but the display side is in good shape. The terminations of the Quartz crystals are both complete, and the larger Quartz is absolutely transparent in the center, creating a perfect window to view the lovely iron and titanium oxides respectively. You can see a small amount of Hematite and Rutile is actually present on the exterior of the Quartz as well for an interesting touch.
