Rutile with Hematite (ex Kay Robertson Collection)

Item Description

Some of the most iconic Rutile specimens in the world are those from Novo Horizonte. This piece is a wonderful example of the 2008 find featuring epitaxial Rutile crystals growing up off of natural silvery Hematite with a mirror-metallic luster. The Rutile crystals are acicular in habit with bright luster and the classic golden-yellow color. The piece is in very good shape, with only one rough edge, but great crystallization all around. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
