Item Description

Struverite is the uncommon Ta- and Fe-bearing variety of rutile. This is a euhedral, lustrous, metallic-gray, floater crystal with very interesting striated, nubby faces. It looks like a metallic pine cone. A rare and uncommon form from an obscure Minas Gerais locale. It could be Barra do Cuite, Conselheiro Pena, Doce valley and comes with a 1970s-80s label from respected dealer R.V. Gaines. Ex Columbia University-American Museum and Eugene Carmichael Collections.
