Rutile var. Ilmenorutile in Quartz. (old locality)

Item Description

Sharp, Ilmenorutile crystal with metallic luster and silvery-black color with red highlights. The form appears to be a sixling twin, with 1/3 of the full sixling present. The crystal is not damaged, just the Ilmenorutile grew that much within the Quartz. The size of the crystal is 2.2 cm across, impressive in its own right. Excellent for the species and the locality. Formerly in the collection of R. Theodure Hurr. Last purchased for $495 in the 1990s from Keith Williams (well known Virginia area dealer).
