Item Description
Two classic, sharp, deep wine-red, twinned rutile crystals are aesthetically set atop the sculptural large matrix on this fine specimen from the famous extinct Champion Mine. The two mirror-bright metallic luster crystals are 2.2 and 2.1 cm across. Bright light reveals stunning, beautiful zones of cherry-red translucence. The piece looks great from either side and displays well without aid. See the 1977 Mineralogical Record article in Vol. 8, No. 6. Old-time material from the Taylor Hunt Collection. Classic and excellent Champion Mine rutile. Yo almost never see clusters, or multiple crystals in one matrix - let alone a large specimen. Significant! valued $2000-2500.
