Item Description
A significant and very fine rutile for the size class, this is a classic Georgia rutile showing unusually high luster, great form 360 degrees all around, and sharp twinning. Rutile is the most common and stable form of titanium dioxide found in nature, and this is the most important USA locality. The video speaks well for itself! It was collected by our friend, semi-retired Dallas dealer Doug Wallace, in the mid 1980s and has been in his collection since then for over 30 years. The location does not currently produce this quality and it is a significant American and Georgia rutile, valued by the former owner at $5000-6000. For that matter, these are worldwide important rutiles by any standard, and considered among best of species by most collectors for the size, dimensionality, and impact. A hefty crystal at 1 pound in weight (456 grams) of massive titanium ore! It comes with a custom base.
