Rutile twin (RARE Virginia)

Item Description

Mineral specimens of ANY type are EXTREMELY RARE from the three localities, that MINDAT lists for rutile in Grayson County. This is a classic, very stout and subtantial, well-formed, lustrous, reddish-brown twin from this obscure prospect. Both ends and part of the rear prism face appear to be contacted, but no damage is noted. Probably older material, but no proof. RARE and desirable Virginia rutile.
