Item Description
A very good and classic specimen of Rutile from the famous locality at Graves Mountain. The main crystal is actually twinned with rather sharp and lustrous faces that show a metallic, silvery color (with a slight red appearance on the prism faces) sitting on a bit of matrix. Rarely are these Rutile crystals seen on matrix, and this eye catching piece is a great example of this well known (and increasingly hard to find) material. The crystal measures 3.3 cm on its longest dimension. Classic material! Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#6918). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
