Item Description

A 2.4 cm, sharp, lustrous, deep wine-red, twinned rutile crystal is jauntily set atop pyrophyllite matrix with on this classic and very fine small cabinet from the famous Champion Mine. The crystal has beautifully gemmy stringers and highlights. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 1587 and probably acquired in the late-1950s. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). Classic Champion Mine rutile.
