Item Description
A classic specimen of the rarely seen Rutiles on Muscovite from Boiling Springs. This miniature features beautiful orange-red needles and twinned crystals of Rutile measuring up to 7 mm sitting on iconic green colored groups of translucent hexagonal Muscovite. The Muscovite crystals have an olive green color when viewed on the broad "c" faces, but if you backlight them along the "a" axis, some of them show a gorgeous glowing blue-green hue. Very hard to find on the market, and a must have for any fan of North Carolina minerals. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#7017). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
